Posted on 4:40 PM by veer

To help Canadian Tire introduce MAXIMUM, a new line of tools and accessories engineered for trades’ professionals, the retailer tasked Tribal Worldwide – Toronto with creating an awareness program that would heighten anticipation for the new products.

Believing it’s more powerful to show versus tell, Tribal Worldwide – Toronto developed a captivating film that demonstrates the unparalleled performance and toughness of the MAXIMUM Precision Point™ Drill Bits.

“We needed to demonstrate the power and precision of the drill bits in a way that was worthy of the attention of serious craftsmen and women,” says Joshua Stein, executive creative director, Tribal Worldwide – Toronto. “Our solution was simple. Use 1Ž4-inch steel and make it look cool.”

Official Call of Duty Advanced Warfare Live Action Trailer - "Discover Your Power"

Posted on 5:33 PM by veer

Peter Berg and Taylor Kitsch team up in new Call of Duty ad. In advance of the November 3rd release of Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, 72andSunny isn’t just showing viewers the greatest action game they’ve ever seen, they are letting them actually live it.

Within the new launch trailer, directed by Peter Berg, viewers are instantly dropped into an intense action sequence with Taylor Kitsch, best known for his role in NBC's Friday Night Lights and star of the coming season of HBO's True Detective with Colin Farrell and Vince Vaughn. Together, the viewer and Kitsch discover how the technology of Advanced Warfare radically transforms combat as they journey through a battle taking place in 2059.

The trailer was shot from a first person perspective, making it feel as if you are an advanced soldier, actually operating the gadgets, throwing the grenades and free-falling from building tops, all the while experiencing how the new weapons, future technology, and gear might work in the game.

A new era for the franchise, Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare was built on an expanded three-year development cycle by Sledgehammer Games, the first new studio leading Call of Duty development in a decade. Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare jolts players forward in a groundbreaking experience that’s ripped-from-the-headlines-of-tomorrow, envisioning a future where both technology and tactics have evolved to usher in a new era of combat for the franchise.

This is the second time that Emmy-nominated Pony Show director Peter Berg worked on the Call of Duty franchise, having previously directed the live action trailer for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 starring Jonah Hill and Sam Worthington. The spot includes VFX from MPC LA, including heavy CG effect, carefully rigged pyrotechnics, and meticulously timed and choreographed stunts. Berg was also reunited with Kitsch, who he previously directed in “Friday Night Lights,” Lone Survivor and Battleship.

Aussie Gets Women to show off their Movember Misstaches

Posted on 5:14 PM by veer

Aussie Haircare with their agency Atelier, the lifestyle and luxury division of the Leo Burnett Group, have created an exciting through the line engagement campaign to bring to life Aussie’s partnership with Movember. Uniquely, this is the first time that a female brand has partnered with the men’s health charity Movember. The activity gives women the opportunity to get involved with Movember and support their men whilst having a bit of fun!

Female supporters of Movember, otherwise known as ‘Mo-sistas’, are asked to show off their ‘Movember Misstaches’ so that they too can don a moustache this Movember - a misstache can be created by using a lock of hair (no hands) and shared - to raise awareness for the men’s health charity.

An influencer strategy sees TV personality Laura Whitmore, alongside other leading bloggers and YouTubers such as Fleur De Force, demonstrating their best Aussie Misstaches. The integrated campaign includes print, PR, in-store and video, as well as content running across social channels, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The #Misstache campaign is set to provide some much-needed support for Mo Bros in all their bristled glory. Growing a mo can be a tricky time for bros – we’re talking about the patches, the bristles, the unexpected sprouting colours - Aussie is leading the way in encouraging girls to show their support with a #Misstache this Movember! Better yet Aussie will donate 10p from every bottle sold in Tesco in November.

Graeme Barnes Brand Manager at Aussie said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and help women get involved in a cause which indirectly affects so many. Encouraging women to have fun with their hair whilst supporting the men in their life is a true manifestation of our Aussie Philosophy 'there's more to life than hair, but it's a good place to start.' "

Jo Tauscher Client Service Director at Atelier said: “It’s so exciting for Aussie to be supporting this amazing cause and it is our ambition that by showing how women can get involved it will be the most wide reaching Movember yet.”

Director Malcolm Venville Unearths Fashion Confessions from the Disciples of Phoebe Philo's Céline

Posted on 4:20 PM by veer

Filmmaker Malcom Venville launches the first film in a series about the cult of fashion followers for online culture portal NOWNESS. The director spotlights fashion fetishism at its finest in this Somesuch-produced satire, capturing confessional-style interviews with Philophiles, the style disciples devoted to the house of Céline and its creative director Phoebe Philo.

Malcom Venville takes an anthropological look at the tribe of high fashion, introducing us to three female subjects who channel the minimalistic aesthetic and subdued luxury of the Céline brand into their own lifestyles. More than merely appreciating the quality of the garments, each of these women identify themselves with the public image of Céline designer Phoebe Philo – a living example of the savvy, modern cosmopolitan woman that can have it all, while looking impeccably chic.

Indeed, Phoebe Philo engenders a whole species of fashion fanatics, deconstructing everything from her purist aesthetic to her sidelong glances. The believers’ worshipful devotion may give you the Phoebe-jeebies (“At work, we have this motto: WWPPD? What would Phoebe Philo do?”), but these strangely charming and endearingly awkward confessions demonstrate Philo's grand appeal.

Venville playfully pokes fun at the absurdity of the fashion world, dropping obscure references that speak straight to the in-the-know elite: runway look number 30, namedropping style blogger Susie Bubble, and the art of the neatly un-tucked shirt tail. Expertly weaved together, Philophiles is a homage to the visionary Philo and her expertly dressed believers that is reverent, adorable and cheeky all at once.

Malcolm Venville is represented by Anonymous Content in the US and Somesuch in the UK.

Sprite Presents - LeBron James’ First Home Game Commercial

Posted on 5:16 PM by veer

LeBron James’ first home court game appearance won’t be in Cleveland; because it was in his hometown of Akron, Ohio on September 25th. Sprite worked with city officials to turn Patterson Park, which hadn’t been updated in more than 20 years, into a blank canvas for New York urban artist Futura to transform. Once the court was transformed, Sprite held a pickup game and basketball clinic for the community to enjoy. That’s when LeBron showed up to celebrate the new courts and his arrival back home.

The ad features the music of the indie rock band Imagine Dragons song "I Bet My Life".

Coca-Cola Diet Coke: Millions of One of a Kind Bottles

Posted on 4:22 PM by veer

Coca Cola Israel: A new campaign for Diet-Coke revealed a unique collection of over 2 million unique one-of-a-kind bottles. The campaign, revolving around the concept “Stay Extraordinary,” produced over 2 million different bottles using a new printing system that printed every bottle with a different look. For the consumer this meant no bottle repeated itself and whoever bought a diet coke bottle received a one-of-a-kind design. The purpose of the campaign was to convey to Diet-Coke lovers that they are extraordinary by creating unique one-of-a-kind extraordinary bottles.

The unique bottles were marketed in all POS in packages of 51 oz., 17 oz. and in 12 oz. bottles. The campaign was accompanied by digital media coverage which gave Diet-Coke fans the opportunity to create an online cup set of their choice, identical to the bottles they collected. In addition to all of the above, selected marketing outlets gave the consumers the chance to create thousands of Diet-Coke branded products such as bags, t-shirts and iPhone covers. Soon after, bottles were up for sale on E-bay at marketing prices as high as $200 for a collection and $15 for one bottle.

The complex campaign was made possible due to an innovative printing technology. A special algorithm was created which gave birth to the design technique - It could create millions of different designs that were completely auto-generated, with no need for human intervention. Alon Zamir, Vice President of Marketing Coca-Cola Israel: "We are proud to launch such a complex, innovative and extraordinary campaign which will convey to all Diet-Coke consumers how extraordinary they are themselves".

As always, the Diet-Coke brand strives to be innovative and fashionable, the exact qualities that make it so lovable for its consumers, and this campaign signifies this more than ever.

Meet The Brilliant Sculptors Behind Brita's "Sugar Biology"

Posted on 2:06 PM by veer

Harvest Films, based in Los Angeles, have commissioned sculptors Brendan Jamison and Mark Revels to create a giant human-shaped city in sugar cubes for a commercial by global giant Brita, the German water-filter company. Using 221,314 sugar cubes and measuring 8 metres long (26 feet), the sculpture represents the average amount of sugar that one human being consumes in a lifetime. The TV campaign is designed to highlight the serious health risks of drinking liquids with high sugar content. It will no doubt shock and bedazzle in equal measure.

Drinking one soda a day may not seem like much, but this simple choice can add up. In fact, over an average lifetime, drinking just one regular soda a day is the equivalent of consuming over 221,000 sugar cubes. What does that look like? Watch and see.

IKEA pays homage to 'The Shining' in spooky Halloween commercial

Posted on 7:20 AM by veer

For some, IKEA is the land of decorating dreams with its affordable prices, modern furniture and Swedish meatballs. For others, navigating through the megastore’s labyrinth layout and struggling to find the exit is like living in a horror film.

The latter became a reality in IKEA Singapore’s latest commercial, which pays homage to Stanley Kubrick’s classic 1980 horror movie, “The Shining.”

Created as part of a Halloween contest, the minute-and-a-half video resembles the movie's famous Big Wheel scene. Young Danny, sporting overalls, wheels around a dimly-lit IKEA store, passing skeletons, flickering lights and even an easily-missed “REDRUG” message scrawled across a piece of a furniture (a nod to the original film’s famous “redrum” mantra).

The tiny tot comes to a halt when his parents — dressed in blue dresses similar those worn by twin girls in the film — stand in an aisle beckoning the boy to “Come pay with us.”

We’re not sure what’s more chilling: the film itself or the outlandish idea of an empty IKEA store.

Posted on 4:56 PM by veer

With advertising awards show season at its peak, creatives across the world will win countless of prestigious awards. However, it’s not a big secret within the industry that many of those creatives really don’t contribute much to the campaign, if anything, to “earn” their award.

It’s time to change the way the ad industry views awards shows by recognizing even the most tenuous contributions to an ad campaign.

Presenting The Slashies.

Desire Begins Change Through the Streets of Rome - Martini

Posted on 2:54 PM by veer

MARTINI is gearing up for a global renaissance with the launch of its new brand platform - BEGIN DESIRE.

#BEGINDESIRE is a stunning new vision for the world’s most celebrated vermouth and sparkling wine brand that aims to engage a new generation of MARTINI drinkers. It communicates a sense of possibility at the heart of the MARTINI brand, its Italian roots and the brand’s core values of artisanship, unstudied sophistication and living with passion and authenticity.

The platform is being driven by a captivating new film, directed by Jake Scott of RSA Films, that recently launched on YouTube and on TV in Italy on 26th October, before featuring across Europe from November. Shot on location in Rome, it opens with a white-clad waitress, who is clearing tables when she discovers a message scrawled on a napkin by a mysterious stranger, which reads “BEGIN DESIRE”. The stranger, whom she spots standing on a roof top by a vintage MARTINI sign, guides her to an alleyway, where she is swept along by a crowd which appears from nowhere.

Like a single white flower floating on a rushing river, the waitress is carried by the throng through the streets of the Italian capital, where further invitations to BEGIN DESIRE catch her eye. Her journey continues until she arrives at a train station, where the crowd mysteriously vanishes, leaving her with nothing but a suitcase at her feet. Picking it up, she boards a waiting train – and sets off to her future.

In a case of art imitating life, the lead role is played by beautiful newcomer Elena Mirela, who was working as a real-life waitress in a bar in Rome, when she was spotted by Jake Scott and his crew, and cast immediately!

The film – part of a multi-million Euro cross-media campaign encompassing outdoor, social media, digital, television and public relations – will be seen across Europe from 26 October 2014, as MARTINI proudly reaffirms its position as the world’s most celebrated vermouth and Italian sparkling wine.

What’s Oatly’s CEO doing in a field of oats with a 1980s synth?

Posted on 5:04 PM by veer

In a one of a kind performance, multi-talented CEO Toni Petersson sings a song he wrote entirely by himself to explain exactly what Oatly is all about.

Today, Oatly has released a campaign titled 'Wow No Cow' in which they have teamed up with the legendary Forsman & Bodenfors. Oatly makes oat drinks and only drinks. They don’t know anything about almonds or soy or rice or low-fat cows. All they know is oats. How to grow them, harvest them, choose them and turn them into liquid goodness.

Toni on the song
“When they first told me they wanted me to sing a song in an oat field I seriously thought they were kidding. How could that ever work to tell our story? I didn’t originally have time to write a song so they wrote one for me and I really hated it—don’t they think I have any creative integrity? So I wrote something I felt I could put my name on and then went out in the middle of the oat field with a synth from the 80s and tried to play it.” Toni Petersson, CEO Oatly

The film titled ‘Wow No Cow’ is part of a series of films in which Toni takes Oatly’s message to a wider online audience. The films are both quirky and straightforward – like the brand itself. The series of films are created by award-winning agency Forsman & Bodenfors, who also created the legendary ‘The Epic Split’ by Volvo Trucks.

This is Tony TV
Toni TV is a series of films depicting the life and times of CEO Toni Petersson as he attempts to explain why people should try Oatly’s products. The series of films which includes more than 20 episodes at present, will be featured on Oatly’s Youtube channel.
Toni TV was recorded in and around the organic oat fields of southern Sweden where Oatly has it’s offices. In order to ensure that viewers get to meet the real Toni Petersson, much of the footage was filmed without Toni’s knowledge that we were actually filming. Also, we didn’t let Toni view any of the material until just before it was released. Did we do this to trick Toni? Not entirely. We just felt that it was important for the viewer to get an honest idea of who the real Toni is and how Oatly — behind his new, off beat, dynamic and visionary leadership — is becoming a lifestyle brand that makes nutritional products to help people find ways to upgrade their lives and the health of the planet too.

About the films
“Agianst my better judgement I agreed to be featured in a series of films. At first I was really concerned that the ideas were bad, that I was bad and that all the commercials I had ever seen featuring CEOs were really terrible. For me, it made more sense to spend time and money on developing a strong idea that would explain to viewers how everyone at Oatly goes to work everyday to improve people’s lives and the health of the planet. For some reason my creative director and agency thought I should sing this instead. I guess time will tell if I was right or if they were.” Toni Petersson, CEO Oatly

About the process of making the films
“Clients wanting to be part of the creative process, well we’ve all met them. And we work our asses off to get them to believe that their contribution is of critical nature. The only difference is that this time it ́s actually true. Oatly’s own creative director is doing all the copywriting and the copywriter (that ́s me) is doing absolutely nothing but approving his work. Well, if you’ve met Oatly’s CEO, Toni Petersson, it all makes perfect sense. You then realize that this is not just another company, not just another partnership. This is the way it should be. Always." Martin Ringqvist, Forsman & Bodenfors

An Intel®-based Chromebook Comedy Short - Frozen Coffee & The Monotaskers

Posted on 3:58 PM by veer

CGC, director Matt Miller and their clients at agency Cutwater give us two new fun short films for Intel. The shorts are entitled "Frozen Coffee" (1:16) and "The Monotaskers" (1:25), and both recently debuted on Intel’s YouTube channel. Set in a coffee shop, both shorts feature a colorful cast of characters metaphorically demonstrating the downfalls of multitasking on Chromebooks that do not have Intel inside.

"When you're shooting comedy, keeping a light and fun tone on set is vitally important. As the director, you're the host of the party and your demeanor and energy greatly inform that tone" says director Matt Miller, adding "I handled the casting on this one myself, and feel we had two great casts for this project... with especially strong turns from Robyn Okrant as the server in 'The Monotasker' and Alan Metoskie as the barista in 'Frozen Coffee.'"

Whole Foods Market - Values Matter Anthem

Posted on 4:49 PM by veer

Whole Foods Market launches its first national brand campaign today to highlight its groundbreaking quality standards, healthy offerings and key milestones as a pioneer in the natural and organic food industry. By communicating the company’s deeper purpose and its history of celebrating food and the people who produce it, the multichannel advertising initiative will demonstrate the values of “America’s Healthiest Grocery Store.”

At the helm of the new campaign is seasoned marketing leader Jeannine D’Addario, Whole Foods Market’s new global vice president of communications. She joined Whole Foods Market in August from Stanford Children’s Health, where she served as vice president and chief marketing officer. D’Addario also previously served as vice president of marketing for infant, toddler and preschool brands at the Walt Disney Company.

“Whole Foods Market has been subtly telling our story for decades, and now is the time to overtly communicate what we’ve spent more than 35 years creating as change agents in the food world,” D’Addario said. “We are excited to share our stories, and to have deeper conversations with our customers so they can make meaningful choices about what they decide to buy and support.”

Using the theme “Values Matter” primarily in television, print and digital advertisements, Whole Foods Market will explain the origin and impact of its products and the standards behind them. This manifesto appears throughout the campaign:
Values Matter
We are hungrier for better than we ever realized.
We want to know where our food comes from.
We care what happens to it along the way.
We want to trust our sources.
We want people, and animals, and the places our food comes from to be treated fairly.
The time is ripe to champion the way food is grown,
and raised,
and caught...
So it’s good for us…
and for the greater good too.
This is where it all comes to fruition…
Where values matter.
The company partnered with New York-based Partners & Spade to develop the creative approach. Headlines such as “The Highest Standards Weren’t Available, So We Created Them,” tout Whole Foods Market’s milestones in developing its signature standards and ratings programs. Sustainable seafood standards, animal welfare ratings, and its new “Responsibly Grown” produce ratings program are the topics of authentic, documentary-style TV spots that were directed by notable commercial filmmaker Gerard de Thame and feature supplier partners –including farmers, ranchers and fishermen– along with Whole Foods Market customers and team members.

“We believe Whole Foods Market has raised the level of food consciousness more than any other retailer, and it is certainly one of the most genuine, transparent companies out there,” said Anthony Sperduti, co-founder and creative director at Partners & Spade. “Helping craft Whole Foods Market’s first national conversation about its philosophy and vision has been some of our team’s most meaningful work because it’s bigger than just commerce: it’s a wake-up call for how to treat ourselves, each other and the planet.”

Austin-based GSD&M was selected as the partner to handle media strategy and placement, which includes spots during prime time television shows including “Modern Family,” “Scandal” and “The Voice,” on late night favorites such as “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” “Jimmy Kimmel Live,” and “Saturday Night Live,” as well as during the World Series and NFL football. Ads will also appear in business, food, health, and lifestyle outlets, both print and digital.

Whole Foods Market has been recognized by many organizations over the years for its work in creating industry-leading standards. For example, Greenpeace ranked it as the No. 1 retailer for seafood sustainability, the Campaign for Safe Cosmetics named it the leading national retailer for personal care product safety, and Ethisphere chose it as one of the world’s most ethical companies. Additionally, the company was the first certified organic national grocer in the United States and was the only retailer named “America’s Healthiest Grocery Store” by Health magazine.

“Not everyone knows what makes Whole Foods Market different from other grocers, or the fact that no other retailer has standards as demanding or as transparent as ours,” D’Addario said. “This campaign will distinguish what makes our brand special, our food different and our quality superior. It’s our opportunity to reaffirm our unwavering commitments to our core values, which are at the heart of our brand.”

Renault Captur Adverts - The Jonathan Ross Show

Posted on 2:06 AM by veer

Renault UK unveils ‘interesting ride’ idents to support The Jonathan Ross Show sponsorship

Renault UK is supporting its sponsorship of ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show with a new series of idents that feature its crossover Captur model.

The idents, created by Publicis London, link the Renault Captur’s spirit of adventure with the show’s range of guests and incredible stories by introducing the idea ‘Get ready for an interesting ride’.

Idents will run around the first show, which airs on 18th October, and continue for the 10-week duration of the series.

The spots feature three colourful and adventurous characters who act out everyday scenarios with the Captur in a playful and entertaining way.

Viewers see a spaceman walking his dog on the moon, a pilot trimming a cloud into a moustache and a deep-sea diver being helped with his shopping by a giant octopus. Publicis London introduced a graphic and stylish approach with the use of theatrical, playful, costumes and props.

Louise O’Sullivan, the Head of Marketing Communications at Renault UK, said: “The interesting ride the show offers is a great parallel to the interesting ride the Captur provides – filled as it is with the spirit of adventure.”

Renault’s sponsorship of The Jonathan Ross Show launched in 2013 with Publicis London creating idents around the theme of ‘animal attraction’ to promote Renault’s small car range.

New Google Android Commercials - Be Together. Not the Same

Posted on 6:27 PM by veer

A few years ago, we thought that phones and tablets and watches (and stuff that hasn’t even been invented yet) would be way more interesting if everyone was invited to imagine, invent, make, or buy whatever they wanted. So we created Android, and put it out there for everyone.

Since then, all kinds of people, companies big and small, folks on Kickstarter, kids in schools, and mad-smart developers have been innovating faster, together, than any one company ever could.

Basically, we’re throwing the world’s biggest… come as you are, everyone’s invited, don’t bother knocking, feel free to DJ, bring a friend or fifteen… party.

Consider yourself invited.
