A Cheesy Love Story - The Ad Doritos Does Not Want You to See

Posted on 5:41 PM by veer

Timing is everything...This PSA was timed to coincide with Doritos announcement of the top 10 finalists for the PepsiCo-owned brand's "Crash the Super Bowl" ad contest.

You wouldn’t love it if you knew what it was made from.
Tell Doritos and PepsiCo to adopt a responsible palm oil policy, and save our rainforests.
Some Doritos flavours contain palm oil. Doritos' parent company, PepsiCo, buys 427,500 tonnes of palm oil every year. Palm oil production destroys rainforest and threatens species to the point of extinction.
This deforestation results in the death of over 1,000 Sumatran orangutans every year. This is the ad that Doritos don't want you to see in 'Doritos Crash The Superbowl 2015.'
Sum of Us is a world-wide movement focused on creating a better global economy. We want governments to answer to people, not corporations. Our focus is on ethical consumerism, from the sourcing of products to the rights of workers to fair treatment. We’re building a world that puts the needs of people and the environment above short-sighted greed for the good of all of us and our world.

"Cookin with Molly" - Toronto Crime Stoppers Serves Up Recipes For Recreational Drugs

Posted on 3:19 AM by veer

Molly is the street name for ecstasy. While some people believe Molly is relatively harmless, it often is cut with other harmful drugs – drugs most people have no interest in taking. In short, Molly is not the drug they think it is.

After the tragic loss of two youth that was linked to party drugs at the VELD Music Festival this past summer and recent seizures of ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine, Toronto Crime Stoppers felt compelled to raise awareness about this issue to help make our communities safer. Today, at a Toronto Police news conference Toronto Crime Stoppers launched a new campaign “Cookin’ with Molly” that aims to educate young adults and let them know that Molly is often laced with other drugs.

Toronto Crime Stoppers Serves Up “Recipes” For Recreational Drugs
#CookinWithMolly PSA campaign shines spotlight on harmful ingredients found in ecstasy

Toronto, January, 2015 — Toronto Crime Stoppers launched its first public service campaign today that provokes recreational or party drug users to become more vigilant about MDMA, popularly known as ecstasy or Molly. Warning consumers, “Molly is not the drug you think it is,” the new awareness-building initiative features a video, parodying a cooking show, where a drug lab “cook” shares his recipe for Molly laced with methamphetamine and bath salts.

“After the tragic loss of two youth that was linked to party drugs at the VELD Music Festival this past summer and recent seizures of ecstasy pills containing methamphetamine, we felt compelled to raise awareness about this issue to help make our communities safer,” says Sean Sportun, vice chair, Toronto Crime Stoppers. “MDMA pills don’t come with a list of ingredients and since they can be cut with anything from LSD to caffeine, users can never be certain of what they are getting.”

The “Cookin’ with Molly” creative, developed pro-bono by Toronto Crime Stoppers’ agency of record, DDB Canada Toronto, was unveiled at a Toronto Police news conference today to commemorate Crime Stoppers month. Targeting people between the ages of 15 and 25, the video is currently running online and is supported by preroll, newspaper and transit shelter ads, out of home advertising, and a social media outreach program. The creative drives consumers to www.cookinwithmolly.com, which offers additional content and shareable assets.

“These party-type drugs have been a growing concern, and Toronto Crime Stoppers wanted to tackle this head on without being heavy-handed, so the cooking show format is intended to be tongue-in-cheek,” says Craig Ferguson, senior art director, DDB Canada Toronto. “At the same time, this creative still allows us to educate people on the harmful, hidden ingredients found in MDMA which was our key objective.”

Media planning services for this campaign were donated by OMD Canada. The creative will be in-field from January 9th through to the end of February 2015.

"Too Late" Deutsch NY and Champions Against Bullying

Posted on 4:41 PM by veer

We’ve all been bullied at some point in our life, and every year, over 15 million teenagers are the target of bullying and the rise of social media has only exacerbated the crisis. Deutsch NY partnered with Champions Against Bullying, one of the oldest, International non-profits passionate about "creating a society where every child has the opportunity to develop, learn and thrive in an environment without fear," to NOT ONLY raise awareness but TO DO something about bullying.

Through our partnership, a PSA was created using teens reading real posts left on bullied teen’s social media sites. It’s real and it’s raw. The key takeaway – don’t let it be ‘too late,’ we can put a stop to bullying now.

Inspiration: As we visited the social media pages of cyber-bullying targets who took their own lives, we kept seeing an outpouring of positive messages posted onto their pages and realized that if some of this positivity came earlier, things might've turned out differently.

Insight: We set out to make a video that would help teens understand that speaking up earlier matters and letting victims know that even if they aren’t getting the support they need, that doesn’t mean it doesn’t exist.

Belief: We strongly believed that only real posts left on bullied teenagers’ social media could deliver the proper emotional impact – so we compiled messages from the actual social media pages and filmed teens reading them.

In the end, a powerful PSA with an emotional, but important, message was brought to life – bullying can be stopped. At the end of the spot, we remind people to “Be nice. Now.” If you’re interested I’d love to connect you with Leigh Faith-Fujimoto, USA Director of Champions Against Bullying, and our Chief Creative Officer Kerry Keenan. Leigh can share some of the initiatives they have put in to help stop bullying, and Kerry can discuss the idea behind “Too Late” and how we think the powerful message can make a difference.

Saatchi & Saatchi New York New Campaign Asks America to Confront Difficult “Talk”

Posted on 6:12 PM by veer

A provocative new campaign from Brotherhood SisterSol—a youth organization centrally involved in reforming NYPD’s “Stop & Frisk” policies— focused on raising awareness of “the Talk” that takes place in black households across America.

Created by Saatchi & Saatchi New York, portrays several intimate discussions between black parents and their children about how to avoid potentially dangerous police encounters, but ends with a white father telling his teenage son that the police are there to help. The spot draws attention to the stark contrast on this issue in black and white homes, and asks the question, “Do we want one America … or two?”

"The Talk" is the term often used to describe the conversation black parents have with their children, especially teenage boys, about how they should conduct themselves when they encounter the police.

We believe this initiative—which also features a website and social media elements—has the power to effect cultural change, and get America “Talking About The Talk.”

While this oftentimes painful discussion is a commonplace in African-American households, many white homes are unaware these conversations are even taking place. Coming in the wake of the recent grand jury verdicts in the Michael Brown and Eric Garner cases—and with ongoing protests across the country—the spot could not be more timely or prescient.

Trussell Trust launches ‘Trussell Cans’ for sale at London delis to raise funds to open more foodbanks

Posted on 5:40 PM by veer

The Trussell Trust, the charity that works to combat food poverty in the UK, is “selling” empty food cans at delis and at food markets around the capital and online to raise money to support foodbanks that provide people in need with emergency food and vital signposting services.

The charity’s new Trussell Can campaign, devised by its agency partner Stack, taps into foodie culture in order to raise awareness and help increase the number of regular donors for The Trussell Trust.

Food lovers who “buy” this Can for £3 and then give it back to the deli will donate their payment directly to The Trussell Trust; the Trussell Can then returns to the shelf to allow other food lovers to do the same, making the project 100% sustainable.

Stack also created a 90second film, designed to promote the campaign’s digital experience. Replicating the real world initiative, Trussell Cans are available online at trusselltrust.org/thiscan where people can regularly donate Trussell Cans every month, which translate into regular monetary donations.

The Trussell Trust partners with churches and communities to open new food banks across the UK. It has set up 420 foodbanks in the UK, but it’s not enough when 13 million people in the UK live below the poverty line.

The charity’s goal is for every town in the UK to have a foodbank. In 2013, foodbanks fed 913,138 people nationwide and, of those helped, 330,205 were children.

Mark Ward, Head of Fundraising, The Trussell Trust said: “People enjoy the immediacy of donating food to our foodbanks. It makes sense that when families need food, you give food. But many people don’t realise that we also need financial donations to help us provide foodbank services, both food and access to advisory services, within reach of everyone in the UK. Stack’s idea cleverly replicates the direct-ness of donating food and turns it into the money we so desperately need."

Liz Wilson, CEO, Stack said: “"Experience shows that timeliness and relevance are two of the most important factors in getting people to respond emotionally and practically to communication like this. So we've chosen to remind people about families going hungry when they are in a really foodie environment that's all about pleasure and indulgence for their own family."

Tinder profiles used to raise awareness about the crimes behind trafficking and prostitution Immigrant Council and eightytwenty launch ground breaking innovative campaign

Posted on 1:23 PM by veer

Users of social media & the dating platform, Tinder, are being confronted with the reality of sex trafficking through a ground breaking campaign by the Immigrant Council of Ireland, developed by digital advertising agency, eightytwenty (part of the Havas network). This is one of the first campaigns globally of this nature on Tinder.

A large number of profiles on the dating app, Tinder, were created to show example stories of victims of sex trafficking. The profiles feature pictures of girls, which with every swipe illustrate the impact of sex trafficking, ending with messages related to the issues they face. These profiles have so far been very well received by users of Tinder, with a large number of comments from users who are shocked upon hearing about the realities of sex trafficking in a modern society.

Cathal Gillen of eightytwenty:
“This is one of the first campaigns globally of this nature on Tinder. Tinder has become an extremely popular app, and it provides us with a unique, innovative and stand out way of communicating to men the issues faced by women involved in sex trafficking.”

Denise Charlton, Chief Executive of the Immigrant Council of Ireland, added:
“Sex trafficking is one of the most lucrative crimes with the sums involved on a par with those for drug smuggling and gun running, yet many people are not aware that it is a reality in communities right across Ireland.
The Immigrant Council of Ireland is committed to using every possible opportunity to increase awareness about the activities of the thugs behind these crimes and the impact on their victims.

As a frontline agency, we have supported 60 women who were brought here to be sexually exploited while Senior Gardaí confirm that Irish prostitution is run by foreign and domestic criminal gangs in a trade thought to net over €200m a year. It is important that men of all ages who buy sex are made aware of the consequences of their actions.

We are delighted to partner with the team at eightytwenty to bring this important message to an audience which is difficult to reach through traditional media.”

The Moms Demand Action Radio Ads That Kroger Does Not want You To Hear

Posted on 4:34 PM by veer
A new radio campaign released by Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America is demanding that Kroger, the nation’s largest supermarket chain, stop allowing the open carry of guns in its stores.

Kroger has heard the spots and is pressuring radio stations to stop airing them. They also bussed their investors away from a planned meeting early last Wednesday morning (Oct. 29th) in Cincinnati to avoid a Moms Demand Action rally.

The ads feature recorded phone calls to real Kroger stores, where employees attempt to explain why pets and children’s scooters are prohibited from its stores citing safety concerns, while allowing anyone to open carry loaded guns inside Kroger stores.

“Our ads are nothing more than Kroger employees reiterating Kroger’s policy, which is to prohibit children’s toys and household pets in the name of customer safety, but to allow anyone to openly carry loaded firearms, even though no permit, training or background check is required to do so in most states,” said Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action.

This new radio campaign builds upon recent billboard, print and digital ads featuring individuals open carrying firearms in the aisles of a supermarket alongside other objects prohibited from most Kroger stores, including outside food, skateboards and a lack of appropriate attire. The campaign was created by the Toronto office of GREY.

Paid for by the Everytown for Gun Safety Action Fund, the ads are running in the Cincinnati area during the Kroger investor meetings happening there this week. It comes on the heels of a new poll conducted by Beneson Strategy Group that shows 64 percent of Kroger shoppers believe people should not be able to openly carry guns in Kroger stores.

“Kroger claims to be a ‘Family of Stores,’ so where are their family values?” asked Shannon Watts, founder of Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America. “We are asking Kroger leadership directly: Why are you siding with gun extremists, rather than mothers and the majority of Kroger shoppers, who support ending open carry in Kroger stores?”

While Kroger has not yet changed its open carry policy, other major brands, including Target, Starbucks, Chipotle, Sonic, Jack in the Box, and Chili’s, are now asking guests to leave their firearms at home.

Aussie Gets Women to show off their Movember Misstaches

Posted on 5:14 PM by veer

Aussie Haircare with their agency Atelier, the lifestyle and luxury division of the Leo Burnett Group, have created an exciting through the line engagement campaign to bring to life Aussie’s partnership with Movember. Uniquely, this is the first time that a female brand has partnered with the men’s health charity Movember. The activity gives women the opportunity to get involved with Movember and support their men whilst having a bit of fun!

Female supporters of Movember, otherwise known as ‘Mo-sistas’, are asked to show off their ‘Movember Misstaches’ so that they too can don a moustache this Movember - a misstache can be created by using a lock of hair (no hands) and shared - to raise awareness for the men’s health charity.

An influencer strategy sees TV personality Laura Whitmore, alongside other leading bloggers and YouTubers such as Fleur De Force, demonstrating their best Aussie Misstaches. The integrated campaign includes print, PR, in-store and video, as well as content running across social channels, such as Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.

The #Misstache campaign is set to provide some much-needed support for Mo Bros in all their bristled glory. Growing a mo can be a tricky time for bros – we’re talking about the patches, the bristles, the unexpected sprouting colours - Aussie is leading the way in encouraging girls to show their support with a #Misstache this Movember! Better yet Aussie will donate 10p from every bottle sold in Tesco in November.

Graeme Barnes Brand Manager at Aussie said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to raise awareness and help women get involved in a cause which indirectly affects so many. Encouraging women to have fun with their hair whilst supporting the men in their life is a true manifestation of our Aussie Philosophy 'there's more to life than hair, but it's a good place to start.' "

Jo Tauscher Client Service Director at Atelier said: “It’s so exciting for Aussie to be supporting this amazing cause and it is our ambition that by showing how women can get involved it will be the most wide reaching Movember yet.”

In Reverse, The Syria Campaign

Posted on 5:05 PM by veer

Playgrounds should never be battlegrounds. Change the story. #withSyria
We can't reverse what's happened in Syria but we can change how the story ends. While ISIS have seized headlines, thia video tells the story not making the news : the horror endured by ordinary Syrians on a daily basis. With the death toll close to 200,000 Syria is now the most dangerous place in the world. The majority of civilian deaths can be attributed to "barrel bombs" - oil drums filled with explosives, chemical weapons, rusty nails dropped from Syrian regime helicopters onto populated areas. The same area is often hit twice, to ensure those coming to rescue the victims are also killed.

The Arctic Oil Spill Play Set by LEGO & Shell

Posted on 6:35 AM by veer

Greenpeace Canada released a short video online showing a satirical product promotion for a new ‘Arctic oil spill’ LEGO set in downtown Toronto.

The video was released as part of Greenpeace’s ongoing campaign calling on LEGO to end its partnership with Shell, which has the popular toy company producing Shell-branded LEGO sets for kids.

“This is about the parameters we set for our kids. If they grow up with oil company branding in the playroom, it sends the message that what these companies are doing is acceptable,” said Greenpeace spokesperson Alex Speers-Roesch. “There's an industry term for it — 'building social license to operate’. But what Shell is doing in the Arctic and to the climate is completely unacceptable.”

Produced and starred in by activists and volunteers, the video depicts a mock product promotion for a new satirical ‘Arctic oil spill’ LEGO set. Passers-by were invited to comment on this new toy that turns an oil spill in the Arctic caused by Shell into a game. The comedic video shows the incredulous and shocked reactions from the public to the promotion.

This short parody aims at raising concern and highlighting how LEGO is colluding in environmental malfeasance in the Arctic by promoting the controversial Shell brand on its toys.

“Companies like Shell can only carry out dangerous activities such as Arctic drilling when they have the social license to do so,” said Speers-Roesch. “Shell is attempting to purchase this social license by partnering with LEGO. We hope this satirical promotion of an ‘Arctic oil spill’ LEGO set will highlight how unacceptable LEGO’s partnership with Shell is, by depicting what that partnership will help bring about: an oil spill in the Arctic.”
