adidas Originals | A Superstar is not What You Think

Posted on 5:27 PM by veer

When the Superstar shoe was first launched by adidas back in 1969, the word ‘Superstar’ was unambiguous. Today, the word has been corrupted to the point of confusion. This year adidas Originals sets out to question what it means to be a superstar, beginning with this film featuring Pharrell Williams, David Beckham, Rita Ora and Damian Lillard.

King Snare Crafts A Moment For Greene King IPA featuring Steve Noble

Posted on 4:17 PM by veer

Watch legendary improvisational percussionist Steve Noble perform a mesmerising, unrehearsed freestyle drum solo in King Snare. The two-minute film, for British brewer Greene King IPA, dramatises the intuitive craft that goes into brewing beer.

Greene King has been brewing fine quality ales since 1799, and after more than 200 years, the business of making beer becomes an intuitive craft.

To dramatize this and promote the IPA brand, it has collaborated with legendary improvisational percussionist Steve Noble, AKA King Snare.

Noble is undisputed drumming royalty on the alternative Jazz scene.

In a two-minute film created by Grey London, Noble performs a mesmerizing, unrehearsed freestyle drum solo; every single one of the beats fine-tuned in hundreds of late night jazz clubs over the past 50 years.

Shot by up-and-coming young British Director George Belfield, it was filmed in a single take, without any sheet music and features Noble’s 40-year-old drum kit which has traveled around the world with him.

"There comes a point when you don’t so much play the drums, you feel them. Like any craft that has been perfected over a long time, it’s instinctive, simple and totally unique. It’s not something you can easily teach or replicate.” claims Noble, who studied under Nigerian master-drummer Elkan Ogunde.

“When you see, hear or taste something really special, you can sense the pain, hardship and toil that have helped create that perfect moment.” added Nils Leonard, Chairman & Chief Creative Officer of Grey London.

Renault Captur Adverts - The Jonathan Ross Show

Posted on 2:06 AM by veer

Renault UK unveils ‘interesting ride’ idents to support The Jonathan Ross Show sponsorship

Renault UK is supporting its sponsorship of ITV’s The Jonathan Ross Show with a new series of idents that feature its crossover Captur model.

The idents, created by Publicis London, link the Renault Captur’s spirit of adventure with the show’s range of guests and incredible stories by introducing the idea ‘Get ready for an interesting ride’.

Idents will run around the first show, which airs on 18th October, and continue for the 10-week duration of the series.

The spots feature three colourful and adventurous characters who act out everyday scenarios with the Captur in a playful and entertaining way.

Viewers see a spaceman walking his dog on the moon, a pilot trimming a cloud into a moustache and a deep-sea diver being helped with his shopping by a giant octopus. Publicis London introduced a graphic and stylish approach with the use of theatrical, playful, costumes and props.

Louise O’Sullivan, the Head of Marketing Communications at Renault UK, said: “The interesting ride the show offers is a great parallel to the interesting ride the Captur provides – filled as it is with the spirit of adventure.”

Renault’s sponsorship of The Jonathan Ross Show launched in 2013 with Publicis London creating idents around the theme of ‘animal attraction’ to promote Renault’s small car range.

Tom Brady Stars in UGG’s First Global Campaign

Posted on 2:40 PM by veer

Footwear brand UGG Australia recently launched “This is UGG,” their first global campaign via M&C Saatchi LA. The international multi-media campaign stars longtime brand ambassador Tom Brady in a trio of heartfelt and personal spots skillfully sewn together by Whitehouse Post’s Rick Lawley with finishing by Carbon VFX.

Directed by HSI’s Brendan Malloy, the first spot in the series entitled “Time Out” follows Brady as he muses on the importance of life’s simpler moments while taking time out from his busy schedule to golf with his father. Lawley’s thoughtful cuts paired with the classic black-and-white footage invoke a feeling of nostalgia for small moments that cannot be recreated. Additional spots with more members of Brady’s family are slated to debut later this year.

“This is UGG” is Lawley’s second project with UGG and M&C Saatchi, following last fall’s clever “For Gamechangers” spot in which Brady travels through time inside the confines of a bus.
