NBA Celebrates Barrier-Breaking Moments in New Film Featuring Martin Luther King Jr’s "I Have A Dream"

Posted on 6:24 PM by veer

This year, the National Basketball Association commemorates Martin Luther King Day and Black History Month with a powerful new commercial for the 2014-2015 season.

“Barrier Breakers” pairs audio of the Rev. Martin Luther King Jr.’s monumental “I Have A Dream” speech with black & white footage of iconic “firsts” from the NBA’s storied history of racial and cultural breakthroughs. From the 1950 signing of Chuck Cooper, the league’s first African-American player, to Violet Palmer, the first female referee in men’s professional sports, to the high-profile 2013 coming out of Jason Collins, the NBA's first openly gay player, the new broadcast film takes viewers on a breathtaking journey through some of the most significant basketball moments of the past 60 years.

“Barrier Breakers” was created by NBA advertising agency, Translation. The spot will debut on broadcast during NBA games on Martin Luther King Day, Monday, Jan. 19.

Behind the scenes with Arsenal FC and PruHealth Vitality

Posted on 4:42 PM by veer

What happens when you leave your smartphone with professional footballers?
A usual day at the Arsenal F.C. training centre consists of a strict regime of shuttle runs, stretching and ball skills but at a recent shoot for Vitality the players took the opportunity to take a breather from training with a few casual selfies on an unguarded smartphone.

England internationals Theo Walcott and Calum Chambers posed alongside Aaron Ramsey and captain Mikel Arteta in several selfies which made for a surprise for the smartphone’s owner. It’s surprising that Lukas Podolski or Wojciech Szczesny didn’t get in on the act given their well-known selfie obsessions.

Podolski has a history of posing for selfies with Bastian Schweinsteiger and German Chancellor Angela Merkel after the World Cup final win. While Szczesny took one of the most well known football selfies of last year, and guess what…Podolski was involved too!

Sprite Presents - LeBron James’ First Home Game Commercial

Posted on 5:16 PM by veer

LeBron James’ first home court game appearance won’t be in Cleveland; because it was in his hometown of Akron, Ohio on September 25th. Sprite worked with city officials to turn Patterson Park, which hadn’t been updated in more than 20 years, into a blank canvas for New York urban artist Futura to transform. Once the court was transformed, Sprite held a pickup game and basketball clinic for the community to enjoy. That’s when LeBron showed up to celebrate the new courts and his arrival back home.

The ad features the music of the indie rock band Imagine Dragons song "I Bet My Life".

HP Presents "Ghost Wave" The Movie

Posted on 4:13 PM by veer

After scouring the planet for an undiscovered big wave, Ian Walsh and crew make a last minute call to chase a monster swell to a remote part of Western South Africa. Watch Ian as he attempts to make history on the other side of the world with South African surf legend Grant “Twiggy” Baker and next gen charger Frank Solomon.

Brandon Porter of Whitehouse Post cuts “Ghost Wave,” HP’s latest short film starring extreme surfer Ian Walsh via 180LA. Captured by famed surf cinematographer and director Taylor Steele, the short follows Walsh and his crew as they scour the globe in search of an unknown surf break.

The crew eventually lands in a remote fishing village on the Pacific coast of South Africa. Armed with the powerful HP Pavilion x360 for monitoring winds, swells, and tides, Walsh and his team quickly determine it to be the ideal location to scout for waves and immediately get to work chasing the elusive “Ghost Wave.”

Porter’s deft cuts allow us to experience the adventure and thrill as the crew scrambles to catch the swell. “It was great to team up with 180LA again for this project,” says Porter. “Ian is an incredible athlete and Taylor is a fantastic director. Watching Ian drop into waves of that size without hesitation was a mind blowing experience. It was exciting to showcase his skills as a surfer and adventurer, as well as the efficiencies technology brings to finding waves like these.”
